We’re over half way into the season, and for Three Kings United and East Coast Bays, points are worth gold at the moment given the places they occupy on the table.

Both secured impressive 3-0 wins last weekend – Three Kings United away at Waitakere City, and East Coast Bays away at Hamilton Wanderers. Those results were very important as both sides leapfrogged Hamilton Wanderers to leave them occupying a relegation spot.

However, with Hamilton Wanderers hosting bottom placed Manurewa, a loss for either side today could mean that they end the weekend in that second relegation spot.

The round 4 fixture at Bay City Park saw Three Kings emerge victorious 3-2, with top scorer Allan Pearce securing victory in the 88th minute. It was a topsy-turvy encounter, one that highlighted how close these two teams are, and one that suggests that the result of today’s match could be in the balance for most, if not all, of the 90 minutes.

Last week’s victories were a welcome return to form for both teams, and they will be keen to carry that momentum into today.
