Alert Level 2 – Football Update 13 May

****LATEST UPDATE****

Dear Three Kings United and Auckland United Members.

We’d just like to keep you in the loop about football restarting. Like many of you we’re very keen to get back on the field training and playing. However there are few obstacles which we will still need to work through.

  1. Sport NZ had anticipated 100 person gatherings, the confirmation of 10 person gatherings means they are reworking some of the guidance they had issued
  2. Auckland Council is advising it will be three to four weeks until the fields are ready to play matches on
  3. Auckland Council has not yet advised when the fields will be ready to train on
  4. NZ Football and Auckland Football are aiming to issue a standardised contact tracing solution which all players and coaches will need to use (parents in the case of younger players). NZF and AFF will also be working on guidelines for hygiene practices, and working with us on WorkSafe guidelines for our staff. We have received documentation from AFF in preparation for some of this which we are now working through. Attached is initial documentation from NZF.

It is very unlikely competitions will start for a number of weeks. We are very hopeful training can begin in small groups in the near future, but please don’t put pressure on your coach, we will notify everyone when we are allowed to get going. For a while at least, there will be a new normal for training, we are all working to ensure that is as safe as possible, without being too onerous on players, coaches or our staff.

It is important to remember that under Level 2 small groups can get together. We know many of you have been training hard through lockdown, you can now get together with a couple of friends and have a game of 3v3, do a passing drill etc. Make sure you keep your group below 10, wash and/or sanitise your hands and any equipment, and keep a note of who you played with and when.

We’ll be in touch when we have further details to share.
