TKU Volunteer Coach Receives Award

Congratulations to TKU’s Grant Abbott,  coach of  Girls 10/1 Abbott Team, who received his award last week from AFF as the regional  winner in the McDonald’s Junior Football Coach of the Year.

Twelve volunteer coaches from TKU were nominated, and there were over 500 nominations across the country.

Three finalists were selected for each federation, and Grant was nominated the winner for Auckland Football Federation.

Nominees were assessed on their positive behaviour both on and off the pitch, including supporting players from the touch-line, introducing new players to the game and helping out in the local community.

New Zealand Football says, “Each of the regional winners fully embody this ethos. For example, the positive attitude of Grant Abbott from Three Kings United is ‘remarkable to behold and he always supports the players with lots of praise and encouragement’.”
