NRFL Premier League: Three Kings United 3 (Stuart Hogg, Sam Margetts, Robbie Greenhalgh) vs. Forrest Hill Milford 2

Presidents Welcome

An early season welcome to Three Kings members and our visitors .  TKU are delighted to be playing up at this level again, after a not very memorable experience last time we were here, a couple of years ago. However we come this time following a very good year in 2009, where TKU went undefeated in the 1st division and narrowly lost the Chatham Cup final to an unfortunate penalty decision.  Furthermore last year was nearly an excellent year for our Premier Women in 2009, who again got very close, before just falling short.

Everyone has much to play for this season, starting from today. This has been the earliest season start I can remember, with about 8 league and Cup games before the end of April, which will test the pre-season conditioning of all teams in the competition.  The 2010 season brings the start of a recombined Northern Region competition, for the first time in several years. The first round has 18 teams, who will all be chasing points from the competition start, to stay in contention. The early season will likely become a desperate fight for a position in the top eight, in order to ensure a place in Premier League in 2011.  The Premier Women have an equally challenging task to go one better than last year.

All the Three Kings United members are behind our  premier Men’s and Women’s teams in their campaigns this year and go forth with our best wishes.

Tim Cooper
