Study & Research Section

Three Kings United strives to be the best club it can be not just in our local region but in New Zealand.  As part of this continual objective we also hope to lead the way in football development off the pitch.  On this page we explain some of the internal studies and research we do 'off the pitch' to help our club members and football in New Zealand on the pitch.

Player Retention Study by Steven Dillon

Steven Dillon joins the club in 2010 on a work placement from Southampton Solent University in the UK.  For his final year dissertation of his Football Studies degree Steven will be conducting a study on player retention strategies at Three Kings Utd.  The study will be used to identify solutions to a long term problem of losing teenage players to other clubs and in some cases to the game completely.  The study will be done in the 2010 season and completed in time for the 2011 season.  Below is a overview of the study in more detail.

4v4 Study by Paul Temple

We will be conducting an internal study based on the Manchester United 4v4 Pilot Scheme model, the study will be conducted with the 9th Grade Platinum players during May & June 2010.  We will test players in 7v7 games with keepers compared to players in 4v4 games without keepers.  The purpose of the study is to see if the result found by Manchester United are mirror in New Zealand context and relevant in our local club environments.  The study will be used to help determine the most effective junior club playing models for 2011 and beyond.
