Who is Ted Ansell?

Ted is an experienced coach, with a Full New Zealand Coaching badge. Ted has coached  both Senior Men’s and Women’s teams, premier Youth sides (boys and girls), been a Director of Coaching at a large Queensland club, and most recently took the Three Kings 12th Grade Premier side to a League win in 2010. Ted is very enthusiastic about the potential at Three Kings to be New Zealand’s leading football club, and wants us to help achieve that potential.

What is Ted’s role?

Ted will be a main contact or support for all Junior and Youth coaches, as well as those players that have higher playing ambitions. In particular, Ted will be a resource for the club with …

Trials – independent selector available to help grade co-ordinators from 9th grade to 17th

Coach Education – co-ordinate sessions for all levels of coaches

Coach Support – Ted hopes to watch many team trainings, games and offer advice

Talented player identification – co-ordinate club nominations to higher honours

Talented player mentoring – individual player pathways for our talented players

Is Ted just focussed on the Premier and Metro teams?

Ted will need to spend a large amount of time on our Premier and Metro teams to really add value to these coaches and players. However, Ted’s mandate extends to all coaches and players at the Junior and Youth end of the club. Obviously, for a club of our size, Ted can’t be everywhere at once, and will need to carefully prioritise his time. But Ted is a resource for the whole Junior and Youth club, and will be expected to make contact with all coaches and see what support he can offer.

How will Ted achieve this?

Ted will be a regular figure at the club, watching many games on Saturdays, and Sundays, as he tries to assess both coaches and players. In addition to weekend games, Ted will be a regular at our Academy, and also at team trainings throughout the week.

What’s happening with the academy?

We have some very exciting news coming out shortly on a new Academy program. As well as Ted’s other roles, he will also be our club liaison on this academy. Ted is experienced ln the new coaching philosophy and fully endorses the skills based program that will be introduced.
