TKU Coach Initiatives 

Premier Coaches Forum (PCF): This is for the coaches who take a premier grade/metro youth team, either male or female.  The group meets once a month to discuss best practice, share ideas and unite with a common philosophy on developing our best youth players.

Future meeting times: April 30th, May 28th, June 25th, July 30th, August 27th & September 24th.

Coach Education Scheme

The New Zealand Football Coaching Education Scheme is available for any club coaches to access.  You can specialise in your chosen age group, related to the players you coach.  There are specific courses available for junior coaches, youth coaches and senior coaches.

Junior Coaches Pathway 6-12 Years:

Small Whites Coaching: This FREE two hour workshop combines coaching demonstrations, practical activities and good advice on how to be successful in your first coaching experience.

Level 1 Junior Coaching Award: This course involves a four hour workshop on effective, age appropriate coaching for players aged 6-8 or players aged 9-12.  The course provides an interactive and practical approach to coaching, and a comprehensive resource for coaches to take away.

Level 2 Junior Coaching Certificate: This modular learning system provides coaches with bite sized learning opportunities that, when combined, develop knowledge and skills over a wide range of coaching related subject areas.

Youth Coaches Pathway 12-19 Years:

Level 1 Youth Coaching Certificate: This course involves a four hour workshop on effective, age appropriate coaching for players aged 12-19.  The course provides an interactive and practical approach to coaching, and is perfect for coaches who aim to improve their general knowledge and skill base around coaching youth players.

Level 2 Youth Coaching Certificate: This modular learning system provides coaches bite sized learning opportunities that, when combined, develop knowledge and skills over a wide range of coaching related subject areas.  The age specific modules at youth level are perfect for beginner and developing coaches who want to increase their effectiveness as youth coaches.

Senior Coaches Pathway 19+ Years:

Senior Level 2 Coaching Certificate: This course aims to meet the needs of New Zealand senior coaches bu focussing on the development of a coaching process for senior players.  This course will also give coaches a greater understanding of the principles of team play, and how to best apply these principles.  The course also provides an opportunity for coaches to apply these principles and coaching process in their own coaching environment.

Senior Level 3 Coaching Certificate: This course is delivered over three, four day non residential workshops.  Coaches are exposed to a range of content from exploring modern trends in football, to using effective coaching tools to bring tactics alive on the training field.  This course specifically targets coaches working in competitive senior environments and is a must for those with a passion for exploring modern football trends.

Youth Coaches Meeting - 12th April 2010
