Three Kings United have opened their season with a loss against Onehunga Sports and a win over Central United.
The match at Kiwitea Street last weekend was especially a highly entertaining encounter.
Aaron Bawdekar put the visitors ahead with a stunning strike over the keeper from distance.
Allan Pearce nearly doubled the lead shortly after with a chip from a way out, but it sailed just wide.
Michael Fifi’i and Reilly O’Meagher scored the other two goals, and despite Central United scoring two of their own, some resolute defence and quality saves from Conor Tracey in goal helped secure the victory.
Newly promoted Waitakere City FC have not started the season as they would’ve liked, securing one point from their opening two fixtures.
A draw at home against Central United in the first week was followed by a loss away to East Coast Bays, who currently occupy top spot.
Waitakere City FC may hold a mental edge though, with the last match between the two teams resulting in a one-sided victory for today’s visitors in last year’s Chatham Cup semi-final.
There are not many survivors in the Three Kings United squad though, so will unlikely be fazed by that result.
